I am looking for a good camping spot near Sacramento, CA to stay at over 4th of July weekend?

I usually travel relatively far for camping. This time I am looking to stay close to home in order to really maximize my recreation time. I would like to go somewhere neat and relaxing preferably near a lake and not with a bunch of people. I enjoy fishing, hiking, and scenery.I would prefer a toilet and shower, but am willing to give these up for a good camping spot. I also would like to be able to bring our dog with us. I understand its going to be somewhat busy with 4th of July weekend, but is there any spots that you just love that meet my requirements. I hope you can help. The most I am willing to drive is 2 hours. :)
