Above ground well pump no pressure/suction from inlet.?

I found an old well casing in my back yard, and found that it still contained water, and plenty of it. I went and purchased a well pump, installed it and new Pvc drop pipe, primed the motor, and got nothing. Later thinking that something was wrong on the inlet side, I placed a hose into a 5 gal bucket attached it to the pump, primed it again, turned it on, and still no pressure. Motor seems to run fine. Any ideas?
